Minutes of the Kencot Eventers Group Zoom Meeting Sunday 7th February 2021

Present:
Jay,Chris, Hilary, Joseph, Mike, Sue, Gill, Janet, Richard, Steve
Apologies: Deirdre
Action for minutes of previous meeting:

1: Spring Raffle:
Janet is very busy at work and suggested we make the raffle a more casual affair as part of our first social event (whenever that might be) in 2021/2
This was agreed by all.

2: Kencot Social Events:
These need to be either in person or on zoom depending on where the country is at with regards to Covid.
Here are our ideas:

2.1: Kencot Gardener’s Zoom Question Time. Saturday 3rd April 2.00p.m. (confirmed)
Simon Toomer, Acting head of Gardens, and Plant Specialist for the National Trust, and David Chapman, local expert, will be available to answer gardening questions for villagers plus friends and families . Additional activities will include ‘Show and Tell’ - people’s successes and spectacular gardening failures!

2.2: Kencot Zoom Arts session with Lynn Bateman. Saturday 17th April 11.00a.m (confirmed)
£10.00 per head and we provide our own materials. Subject matter will kick start ideas and thoughts for the Kencot in Lockdown Project (see below)

2.3: Kencot and Friends One Act Play reading DTBC
Jay to source one act plays for a zoom play reading. Something like a farce, comedy murder mystery.

2.4: Summer Quiz: DTBC written and run by Kencot friends Chis and Derrick Beer

3 Kencot and Me in Lockdown
Villagers will be invited to submit any Lockdown project they have been undertaking during 2020/1. We would hope to have an exhibition in the village hall when we’re allowed to.
This will be led by the Kencot Knit and Natter group We hope to receive people’s pictures, photos, special moments, poems, stories, knitwear, embroidery, tapestries, craft pieces, woodwork projects (anything too big to carry to the village hall can be photographed!), gardening successes (pics or actual examples) and much much more!

The Kencot Book
We hope to create a lasting legacy in the form of a hand- made book which will contain pictures of the villagers’ projects and written explanations about their work and why they did it and what inspired them. There will be blank pages at the end for people to add things after reading the book.
This could be kept in the hall (or church) for everyone to enjoy.
Date for Next Zoom Eventers’ meeting:
Sunday 28th March 2021 11.00a.m. all welcome.
